I had waited all damn day in order for it to set up, swapping out CDs the moment. But it took too much time. I only had about half an hour to play with WoW Classic Gold. What World of Warcraft: Classic most certainly is not is a portal that leads back to a time when murdering 15 boars felt thrilling. Just like most of those times I dusted off old game discs and installed them hoping for that wonderful hit of nostalgia, Classic did not deliver--but that doesn't mean that I don't like it. In reality, I believe just the opposite.
World of Warcraft: Classic is a recreation that will probably turn off gamers. When the retro MMO novelty wore off, I recalled what a game WoW was. In Westfall, a quest to kill Defias bandits that had holed up in the nearby village of Moonbrook was announced by my dwarf hunter. I'm used to being able to fight as much as a dozen enemies at once, elegantly mashing a succession of hotkey abilities to easily dispatch them. But in Classic, yanking even only two enemies was a fatal error I inadvertently repeated again and again--every death requiring a long run from the graveyard to my corpse.
Although the graphics and interface look similar to the modern edition, there's also a mountain of nuances which make them feel as though distinctly different games. So that even players with 20 minutes can reach something meaningful Fight for Azeroth finely tunes the reward loop of WoW. In Vintage, by contrast, I spent 20 minutes just trying to find the wife of some dude for a quest that provided an insulting number of experience points. And that's only the Classic iceberg's tip.
Every class comes equipped with a wealth of skills that are cool on paper but are not very necessary, like seekers having the ability to temporarily watch through the eyes of their pet.
